Our Story: From Waterfalls to Wholesale
Every great business starts with a spark of passion. For us, that spark was Michigan’s natural beauty. In 2009, Phil Stagg began photographing waterfalls across the state, driven by a love for capturing the serene landscapes that make Michigan unique. At the time, Phil also owned and operated a machine shop, balancing precision engineering with his growing photography hobby. What started as a side project soon transformed into a full-fledged business—one that would evolve from postcards to guidebooks, puzzles, and an entire line of unique products loved by retailers across the country.
The First Steps: Postcards and Guidebooks
By 2015, Phil’s passion became Phil Stagg Photography, a brand dedicated to sharing Michigan’s wonders with the world. What began as selling postcards to local stores quickly grew into something much bigger—the Waterfalls of Michigan Guidebook Series, documenting over 600 waterfalls. These guidebooks were released in stages as Phil completed the photography and writing process. When Books 1–4 were finished, we introduced Book 5, a curated collection featuring the best and easiest-to-access waterfalls, perfect for travelers and families.
From Books to Puzzles—and Beyond
After the guidebooks, we launched puzzles—starting with eight 1,000-piece designs. Today, we offer around 300 puzzle designs in three sizes: 300, 500, and 1,000 pieces, with most being 500 and 1,000 pieces. Our puzzles now feature photography from Michigan to Maine, Florida to California, and everywhere in between, reflecting our love for the USA and its incredible landscapes.
